Kindness is defined as doing something toward yourself and others, motivated by genuine desire to make a positive difference. Kindness is shown to increase self-esteem and mood, decrease stress levels, improve relationships, slow aging, and is accompanied by emotional warmth. Research shows kindness and mental health are deeply connected.
We at Fox Run Senior Living know that one act of kindness can lead to many more. Kindness is contagious and it begins with you!
To me, kindness means so many things. It’s taking time for someone in need of assistance, physical or mental, and treating others with respect without judgment. Kindness is recognizing someone’s hurt or need and being there for them. Kindness is being empathetic and compassionate towards others.
Some ways to encourage kindness and put a smile on someone’s face can be as simple as smiling in passing or asking someone how their day is going and if they are doing okay. Kindness can totally change someone’s mood. Kindness is contagious and displaying acts of kindness is a great start to inspire others to spread kindness.
A great example of kindness is when a care partner goes out and purchases personal items and clothing for a resident that does not have family.
Kindness is important to health and well-being. Without kindness people can become down and depressed; therefore, kindness is attributed to happiness and overall well-being.
Fox Run Senior Living practices kindness each day with every resident, whether they live in Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Memory Care. Arrow Senior Living believes “Acts of Kindness can drive change in the world.” We hope kindness finds its way to and from you.
