I get excited about my team when I think of their individual personalities; each staff member has a unique sense of humor. And also when I think of the joy each one experiences while engaged with a resident.

My team excels in pulling together in times of need and pivoting when priorities change. They support each other regardless of departmental responsibility. Vacating residents from their apartments, moving and settling them into new apartments in preparation for renovations is an excellent example. We created “zones” within the community in effort to reduce the spread of COVID. Each zone was set up with its own staging area for food and beverages, linens, and janitorial area.

For Employee Appreciation Day individual gift bags will be given out during a luncheon for staff. Throughout the year I hand out notes of “thanks” and give “high fives.” When I catch people in the act of doing something great, I let them know it’s appreciated. Other times I may buy lunch or pass out lottery scratch-off tickets to those folks that enjoy them. We are a diverse group of people coming together to meet the individual needs of seniors.
