I believe The Safe Awake Smoke Alarm is a technology option that would be most useful for seniors with hearing loss. With the bed shaker and flashing light, the alarm would alert all the senses. Utilizing these various techniques, even a resident with hearing loss would be alerted in a timely manner to help ensure their safety.
Being able to hear the conversation would improve the ability for a resident to make their needs known. Hearing aides are an asset for quality of life. They make it possible for the residents to enjoy many of the activities and improve socialization, thus reducing isolation and depression. At Fox Run, we always face our residents with hearing loss when speaking, and talk slowly and clearly.
